Teaching Drums provide African educational workshops for schools, colleges, universities and youth groups in the UK. The overall aims of our drumming workshops are to have fun and to experience the thrill of making music together in a group. The drum circle is a very powerful method of building children’s confidence and self-esteem. Children love banging the drums and learning rhythm and traditional African songs and chants to accompany the drumming.
Teaching Drums also provide African Art and Craft Workshops. Children have the opportunity to make their own African mask, batik picture, Adinkra print, Kente cloth, African jewellery, Ashanti gold weight etc. Our workshops are interactive, fun and educational. Children will learn about daily life in Ghana and about African culture. The workshops also include display items, information sheets, PowerPoint presentations and follow-up worksheets for teachers.
