Teaching Drums provide African educational workshops for schools, colleges, universities and youth groups in the UK.  The overall aims of our drumming workshops are to have fun and to experience the thrill of making music together in a group.  The drum circle is a very powerful method of building children’s confidence and self-esteem.  Children love banging the drums and learning rhythm and traditional African songs and chants to accompany the drumming.

Teaching Drums also provide African Art and Craft Workshops.  Children have the opportunity to make their own African mask, batik picture, Adinkra print, Kente cloth, African jewellery, Ashanti gold weight etc.  Our workshops are interactive, fun and educational.  Children will learn about daily life in Ghana and about African culture.  The workshops also include display items, information sheets, PowerPoint presentations and follow-up worksheets for teachers.  For further information please email info@teachingdrums.com

"I’ve never felt so much joy in the halls. The whole school was buzzing!” says Marnie Hurst, International School of Prague

African Resource Box For Hire

Teaching Drums provide educational materials for schools to promote cultural awareness, diversity and global citizenship.  Schools can hire our Resource Box for one or two weeks.  The resource box contains a huge variety of African crafts, masks, clothing, hats, leather bags, African jewellery, musical instruments, photographs, books, lesson plans and other educational materials for the West African country of Ghana.  The Resource Box is an excellent opportunity for children to get a real taste of Africa.
